After Oral Sedation

Gentle guidance for a safe & comfortable recovery

Oral sedation is used to help patients feel relaxed and at ease during dental treatment. While its effects are milder than IV sedation, you may still feel drowsy or less alert afterward. These aftercare instructions are designed to help you recover safely and comfortably.

01

Immediately After Your Appointment

It’s normal to experience:

  • Drowsiness or fatigue

  • Mild grogginess

  • Reduced alertness or coordination

These effects typically wear off gradually over the course of the day.

02

Important Aftercare Guidelines

For the Rest of the Day

After oral sedation, please:

  • Do not drive or operate machinery

  • Avoid alcohol or other sedatives

  • Rest at home and limit activity

  • Avoid making important decisions

  • Follow all post-procedure instructions provided

Even if you feel alert, sedation effects can linger longer than expected.

03

Eating & Drinking After Oral Sedation

  • Begin with light foods and fluids

  • Avoid hot foods or drinks until numbness has fully worn off

  • Eat slowly and carefully

Your comfort and safety come first.

04

Oral Hygiene After Your Appointment to Bring

  • Resume gentle brushing and flossing unless otherwise instructed

  • Avoid disturbing any treated areas

  • Follow any additional care instructions specific to your procedure
