After Dental Implants
Supporting healing & comfort after your procedure
Dental implants are designed to be a long-lasting solution, and proper aftercare plays an important role in their success. This recovery period allows the implant to integrate with your bone and surrounding tissue. Following these instructions helps protect your implant, promote healing, and set the foundation for long-term stability and comfort.

Immediately After Implant Placement
First 24 Hours
Bite gently on gauze as instructed to control bleeding
Rest with your head elevated and limit physical activity
Apply cold compresses in 15-minute intervals to reduce swelling
Take prescribed or recommended medications as directed
Avoid touching or disturbing the surgical area
Mild bleeding, swelling, and soreness are normal during this period.
Managing Swelling & Discomfort
Swelling typically peaks within 48–72 hours
Use cold compresses for the first 24 hours
Transition to warm compresses if recommended
Discomfort should gradually improve over several days
If pain worsens instead of improving, please contact our clinic.
Eating & Drinking After Implants
Stick to soft foods for several days following surgery
Avoid chewing directly on the implant site
Avoid hot, hard, crunchy, or sticky foods during early healing
Stay well hydrated and sip gently
Gradually reintroduce normal foods as advised by your care team.
Oral Care & Implant Protection
Avoid brushing directly over the implant site for the first day
Resume gentle brushing elsewhere the same evening
After 24 hours, rinse gently with warm salt water if instructed
Avoid smoking or vaping, as it can interfere with healing and implant integration
Good oral hygiene is essential for long-term implant success.
Activity & Healing Timeline
Avoid strenuous activity for at least 48–72 hours
Follow any activity restrictions provided by your surgeon
Healing occurs in stages — full integration takes time
Your team will guide you on what to expect at each follow-up visit.
